Business English

Business English is a speaking- and communication-oriented course that aims to help students use English effectively in occupational and professional settings. Throughout the course, students work on topics such as introducing themselves, describing their profession and duties, presenting companies and products, reading and evaluating job advertisements, preparing CVs and cover letters, writing professional emails, handling phone and online communication, meeting language, complaint and customer communication, job interviews, and business presentations. The content is delivered in connection with current technical subjects in the students' own field of electrical–electronics engineering (such as electric vehicles, solar energy systems, power electronics, robotics, and artificial intelligence), so that students learn both field-specific terminology and the language of everyday professional life. The course is built on discussion, presentation, and question-and-answer activities carried out in small groups, with a structure that prioritizes the active participation and oral production of every student.

By the end of this course, students are expected to use English fluently, accurately, and appropriately in the core communication situations of professional life. The course aims to enable students to introduce themselves and their profession in a professional manner, to prepare job-application documents (CV, cover letter, email), to express opinions and take part in discussions during meetings and interviews, to explain technical subjects clearly to non-expert audiences, and to use the terminology of their own field correctly. It further aims to develop collaboration, confident speaking, and peer-learning skills through group work.
